Asthma Care in Sioux Falls

Catching your breath shouldn’t take effort. When asthma flares up, breathing turns into something you have to think about, and that gets tiring fast. Asthma itself is a medical condition your physician or pulmonologist manages, but many patients also want to know if something more can support how their body functions overall.

NEW PATIENTS

When the Airways Overreact

Asthma happens when the airways become overly reactive and narrow during a flare. Wheezing, chest tightness, coughing, shortness of breath—the symptoms vary from person to person and flare to flare. Most people who come to our office aren’t looking for asthma treatment specifically. They’re looking for better overall function, and nervous system health tends to be part of that conversation.

Movement and Breathing are More Connected Than You’d Think

Your nervous system controls the muscles involved in breathing, along with pretty much everything else your body does. Restricted movement in the spine or rib cage, or muscular tension around the chest wall, may add mechanical strain that makes breathing feel harder than it needs to. Chiropractic isn’t an asthma treatment. It’s a way of reducing unnecessary stress on the system so your body can work more efficiently, sort of like closing background programs so the ones that matter can run better.

Our Team Works Along with Your Medical Team

We start with a complete exam to check for spinal dysfunction, posture issues, rib cage restriction, or muscular tightness that could be limiting how easily you breathe. From there, your chiropractor might include gentle adjustments, work on rib cage and spinal mobility, and help ease tension that affects breathing mechanics. None of it replaces what your physician or pulmonologist is already doing. It’s meant to work with that care, not instead of it. Patients often tell us they notice they’re breathing a little easier, or dealing with fewer flare-ups, while under care.

Support Your Body’s Ability to Function at Its Best

You don’t have to choose between medical care and chiropractic care; they can work together. Envive Chiropractic can help identify anything mechanical that might be adding strain to how you breathe. Call (605) 336-1188 to schedule an evaluation.
